Instant cardamom karak tea in a glass mug next to a Lucarise karak sachet and cardamom pods

How to Make Karak Tea with Instant Sachets (No Boiling)

Quick answer: Empty one Lucarise karak sachet into a cup, add hot water or hot milk, and stir. There is no boiling, no straining and nothing to measure.

Traditional karak is made by simmering tea, milk and spices together. It tastes wonderful, but it takes time and a pot. Instant karak tea gives you the same strong, milky, spiced cup in seconds. This guide shows how to make it and how to serve it. If you want the story of the drink first, read what karak tea is.

How to make it

  1. Empty the sachet into your cup.
  2. Add hot water or hot milk.
  3. Stir until the powder has dissolved.
  4. If your box comes with a stevia sachet, add all of it, half or none to taste. If it comes with a topping sachet, add it just before you drink.
  5. Enjoy while it is hot.

Hot water or hot milk?

Both work with the same sachet. Hot water gives a lighter, cleaner cup. Hot milk gives a creamier, richer one. Try both and keep the one you like most.

Ways to enjoy it

  • At home or in the office: a quick karak without cooking.
  • When you have guests: serve karak in moments, without boiling tea and milk. Our For Business page covers cafes, hotels and offices.
  • When travelling or camping: single-serve sachets are light and need only hot water.
  • With something sweet or salty: karak goes well with dates, biscuits and pastries.

Which karak should I choose?

If you want a classic spiced cup, start with the cardamom karak. If you want something special for a gathering, the saffron karak comes with a separate saffron topping. Browse the whole karak tea range to compare.

Instant karak tea: quick questions

Do I need to boil the tea and milk?

No. The mix already contains the tea and milk, so there is nothing to simmer. The cardamom karak comes with a separate stevia sachet, and the topping karaks are already sweetened with stevia. You only add hot water or hot milk and stir.

Can I use hot milk instead of hot water?

Yes. Use hot water for a lighter cup, or hot milk for a richer, creamier one. Both work with the same sachet.

Does instant karak tea have sugar?

Our karak teas have no added sugar: the topping karaks are sweetened with stevia Reb-M in the mix, and the cardamom karak comes with a separate stevia Reb-M sachet. Read more in our guide to stevia Reb-M.

Does it contain caffeine?

Yes, because karak is made from black tea. See our guide on karak tea and caffeine for the details.
