Ceremonial Matcha Powder: Frequently Asked Questions
Is it sweetened?
No. It contains no sugar, sweetener or milk, so you can sweeten it the way you like, for example with stevia.
Does it contain caffeine?
Yes. Matcha is made from whole green tea leaves ground into powder, so it naturally contains caffeine.
Why does matcha sometimes clump?
Matcha is a very fine powder. Whisk it with a small amount of hot water first to make a smooth paste, then add the rest of the water or milk.
What water temperature is best?
Use hot water at around 70 to 80°C. Boiling water can make matcha taste bitter.
How should I store it?
Matcha is sensitive to light, air and heat. Keep it sealed in a cool, dry place and use it soon after opening for the best color and flavor.
