Pink at the bottom, white in the middle and green on top: the strawberry matcha latte is one of the most photographed café drinks of the moment. It looks complicated, but at home it takes about five minutes. This strawberry matcha latte recipe uses our Strawberry Matcha Latte, which already contains matcha, milk and a sweetener, so you only add strawberries, milk and ice. What Is a Strawberry Matcha Latte?
A strawberry matcha latte is an iced drink built in three layers: strawberry purée at the bottom, cold milk in the middle and matcha on top[1]. The fruity, slightly tangy strawberry balances the earthy taste of matcha, and the milk makes the whole glass soft and creamy. You stir the layers together just before drinking.
What You Need
- 1 sachet of Lucarise Strawberry Matcha Latte (the 14 g main sachet and the 1 g freeze-dried strawberry topping sachet)
- 4 to 5 fresh or frozen strawberries (about 80 g)
- About 120 ml cold milk
- Ice
- 2 to 3 tablespoons of hot water

Strawberry Matcha Latte Recipe: How to Build the Layers
- Mash or blend the strawberries with a teaspoon of water into a thick purée, then spoon it into the bottom of a tall glass.
- Fill the glass with ice.
- Slowly pour the cold milk over the ice.
- In a small cup, dissolve the main matcha latte sachet in 2 to 3 tablespoons of hot water and stir until smooth.
- Pour the matcha slowly over the ice so it sits on top of the milk.
- Sprinkle the freeze-dried strawberry topping on top, then stir before drinking.
The purée in this recipe has no sugar, and the matcha latte is sweetened with stevia Reb-M. If your strawberries are very tart, stir a stevia sweetener sachet into the purée instead of sugar.
Quick Version: Hot or Iced, Without Fresh Strawberries
No strawberries at home? The sachet works on its own, and the freeze-dried topping adds the strawberry taste:
- Hot: empty the main sachet into a cup, add about 150 ml of hot water or hot milk, stir well and sprinkle the topping on top.
- Iced: dissolve the main sachet in a little hot water, add cold milk and ice, stir and finish with the topping.
Tips for Clean Layers
- Keep the purée thick: a thick purée stays at the bottom. Add only a little water when you blend.
- Use plenty of ice: the ice slows the liquids down, so the layers do not mix.
- Pour slowly: pour the milk and the matcha in a thin stream, or over the back of a spoon.
- Topping last: add the freeze-dried strawberry just before drinking so it stays crisp.
- Stir before you sip: the layers are for the look; the taste is best when everything is mixed.

Strawberry matcha latte: quick questions
What is a strawberry matcha latte?
A strawberry matcha latte is an iced drink with three layers: strawberry purée at the bottom, cold milk in the middle and matcha on top. You stir it together before drinking.
Is it sweet?
It depends on the purée and the sweetener. In this recipe the purée has no sugar and the Lucarise mix is sweetened with stevia Reb-M, so there is no added sugar. Strawberries and milk still contain their own natural sugars.
Does it have caffeine?
Yes. Matcha is a green tea, so every glass contains some natural caffeine, usually less than a regular cup of coffee.
Can I make it hot?
Yes. Stir one sachet into about 150 ml of hot water or hot milk, then sprinkle the freeze-dried strawberry topping on top just before drinking.
Can I make it dairy-free?
Not with this mix. The Lucarise matcha latte contains skimmed milk powder, so it is not dairy-free or vegan, even if you use a plant milk.
